How many apps can I run simultaneously?
There is no hard limit. The number of apps depends on your hardware and how resource-intensive each app is.
Typical configurations
| Hardware | RAM | Apps you can run |
|---|---|---|
| Raspberry Pi 4 (4 GB) | 4 GB | 2–5 lightweight apps |
| Intel N100 mini PC | 8 GB | 5–10 apps |
| Intel i5 mini PC | 16 GB | 10–20 apps |
| Server-grade hardware | 32+ GB | 20+ apps |
Resource usage by app type
| App type | RAM usage | CPU usage | Examples |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lightweight | 50–150 MB | Minimal | Uptime Kuma, File Browser, Docusaurus |
| Medium | 200–500 MB | Moderate | Nextcloud, n8n, Docmost |
| Heavy | 500 MB–2 GB | Significant | Immich, Jellyfin (transcoding), Ollama |
How Yundera manages resources
Every app in the App Store has cpu_shares configured to prevent any single app from monopolizing the CPU. Heavy apps also have memory limits set.
Tips for running more apps
- Add more RAM — this is usually the first bottleneck
- Use an SSD — Docker containers start faster and perform better on SSD
- Monitor resources — install Uptime Kuma or Netdata to track usage
- Stop unused apps — apps you're not actively using can be stopped from the dashboard
