How do I update my PCS?

Updates happen at two levels: individual apps and the system software.

Updating apps​

App updates are handled through the dashboard:

  1. Open your PCS dashboard
  2. Look for the update indicator on apps with new versions available
  3. Click to update — your data is preserved

Alternatively, you can uninstall and reinstall an app. As long as you choose to keep the data during uninstall, all your app data under /DATA/AppData/ is preserved.

Updating the system​

The PCS system software (casa-img) receives updates automatically. Major system updates may require:

  1. SSH into your PCS
  2. Run the system update command
  3. Reboot if prompted

What is preserved during updates​

  • All app data under /DATA/
  • App configurations
  • Your domain and network settings
  • User accounts

What gets updated​

  • Docker container images (per app)
  • CasaOS dashboard
  • Mesh-router (NSL.SH connectivity)
  • System packages and security patches
